Back on road. Driver switch.
Back on road. Driver switch. 253 miles so far. Stopped @ 2nd service area. Thos. Edison.
601 rte 25 finally going
6:01pm Rte 25. Finally going on the road (highway) after sidetracked. Trip miles zero.
Get going...
Just left work. Now train 2 quincy then drive home. Have to pick up the explorer on the way. Long way to go...
Start.
So the idea was to go to Florida for April break. The kids have a week off, and Crystal wanted to go to Florida. Good Idea. We had been wanting to use Grandma Allen's condo in Sarasota for some time and it looks like this is the year.
Only one problem.
We waited too long to decide we were actually going, and the prices for airfare and rental cars were simply through the roof. Part of this because we were looking less than a month away, part because it is school vacation week all over and this is a very popular travel week.
So that left us with a choice. Postpone or do it cheaper... namely... drive.
Yep. That's right. Drive.
Google maps says 1447miles door to door... (or something like that).
So figure 1500 miles. Divided by 70 miles per hour = 21.43 Hours.
Hmmn.
4.5 tanks of gas, (each way) at roughly 65 bucks a tank - $292.50 or $585 roundtrip.
Looks like we're driving.
So I've set up this blog to record the trip. I'm going to try and post what I can from my cellphone and laptop... depending on finding wifi in the wilds of Florida.
Let's see how it goes.
